Orthodontics / Braces
Orthodontics, or braces, are used to shift the position of teeth and align them for both aesthetic and functional purposes.
How long do braces take?
Orthodontic treatment length depends primarily on the severity of crowding prior to initiating treatment. Minor to moderate alignments can often be made in 6 months while cases requiring more major movements can take in excess of one year.
Do you offer Invisalign treatment to straighten teeth?
We do not currently offer Invisalign. We use conventional metal brackets which are bonded to the outer surface of the teeth.
Do I need a retainer when the braces are removed?
Yes. A retainer is necessary to prevent relapse of the teeth. Dr. Dobson recommends regular use of a retainer in the form of a night time appliance. In some cases, a fixed retainer may be bonded to the inner surface of the front teeth.
