Dr. Tanner Dobson
I was born and raised in Prince George where I attended the University of Northern British Columbia before entering dental school at UBC Vancouver in 2014. After working in Creston, BC for a year I moved to the West Kootenays to help start up the Nelson Community Dental Clinic (TEETH Clinic), an outreach dental clinic based in Nelson. Around this time, I took over the former Saddle Mountain Dental Clinic in Nakusp. Today I split my practice between these two clinics.
My practice philosophy is patient-centered. I like to involve my patients in the treatment planning and decision-making process as I recognize that different people have different desires and expectations with respect to their dental health. There are often multiple ways to approach a problem in dentistry and my goal is to explain the options in an easy to understand way and help guide the patient to the correct decision for them.
I incorporate many of the recent technological and materials science innovations that have taken place in dentistry into my practice. Dentistry has changed a lot in recent years and you may be surprised at what can be accomplished with the right tools, technology, know-how, and a steady hand.
Dentistry is my passion and my life. One of my greatest joys is knowing that I have done the best dentistry possible and seeing my work serve my patients long into the future. I consider practicing dentistry to be a privilege and I take great pride in my craftsmanship. I feel grateful to be able to work in such a technically challenging yet rewarding discipline and my goal is to set a new standard that patients can expect when they go to the dentist.
When I'm not in the office you might find me exploring the local mountains.
I am one of the friendly faces at the front desk. I am happy to answer your questions, plan for appointments, help resolve concerns, and make your visits positive. I enjoy helping our patients with any questions they may have regarding their treatment plan, insurance, or financial needs. It is important to me that each of you enjoy a feeling of ease and confidence in our office.
I Have 10 years’ experience in the office administration field and in 2015 I got my certificate in bookkeeping from Selkirk collage. For the past 5 years I have worked as a bookkeeper for a local accounting firm in Nakusp. I made the switch to the dental industry in August 2019 and I have thoroughly enjoyed getting to learn a new field.
Outside of the office, I enjoy spending time with my family, whom I adore. My husband and I have two children. We all made the trek from Port Moody in 2015 to live here in the beautiful village of Nakusp.
